PUBLIC RALLY
Friends of Area 51 will be hosting a Rally on Feb. 11th @ 11am at the Old Courthouse on Wellington St., East entrance.
Whether you’re a supporter of our cause or not, if you feel that it’s wrong that the local police can pick and choose which of the local small businesses stay open and which are wrongfully shut down, please come and show your support for the "little guy"
On July 25th 2007, the St. Thomas police came barging into Area 51 on a personal vendetta. We know this because you can still buy the products they sold at numerous places around the city. They had no regards for anything that Mayhem has worked for in making Area 51. The St. Thomas Police removed over $142,000 in store inventory, including tobacco pipes, bongs, grinders and other tobacco products. Unlike the variety stores, Area 51’s products where mainly made here in Ontario, not overseas! Also, let’s keep in mind that this police action put an additional 6 people out of work in an already struggling local economy.
At one point in time it was encouraged to open your own business no matter what you sold and it would be we the people who decided whether a business could survive. It seems things have changed and the police say what is ok and what is not ok in a retail outlet. This is not right nor is it fair, and all this was brought on by the choice to open St. Thomas' 1st and only head shop, which has been a St Thomas tradition since 1999 and will be gone if the police get their way.

The Toronto Compassion Centre is stepping up to help LCS members.
The staff at the T.C.C. (Toronto Compassion Centre) is offering to service any and all L.C.S. members. As long as the member has a copy of their LCS forms, they can mail or fax them to Toronto. If you do not have a copy, please contact your doctors office and see if they (which they should) have a copy on file. The TCC will confirm and then contact the member. From there there will be certain options for pick up or delivery. You can contact them at www.tccentre.org or by phoning 416.668.MEDS (6337). All information can be faxed to 416.461.7116.

We're Happy to Announce A New Addition.
We are excited to add a new face to our team. Mary "J" is a LCS member who has been active and kind enough to keep us up to date on what's going on with in our Government, and media, in regards to the Medical Marijuana fight. So we thought it's time that she gets her own section devoted to just that. We've always stood by the thought that the best way to complete our task (the legalization of Medical Marijuana) is thru Education. And that is exactly what Mary has been doing for us.
So we're not sure where this section will be (again our web-page building skills are a bit light), but we will have something for you all soon. I think, for now, we will post Mary's Section in our "Weekly Blog" section.

We're Gearing up with Gardeners.
Since we are still out searching for a new space, we came across a way we can start helping some of our members. Since our hiatus many of our gardeners have come out to see how they could help. So after sitting with them, our lawyers and a few MMAR members, we found a way to at least help our Government exemption members. As in the past we have asked all LCS members to fill out and send in their MMAR forms, we are suggesting this again. This will give us the opportunity to put them in contact with designated growers. What does this offer our members.?.? Continuous, FREE medicine that is fully LEGAL.
So we are asking MMAR cardholders to please contact us here. As for our LCS members, please print off or order the Governments MMAR forms as soon as possible. You can find the forms and information at www.hc-sc.gc.ca/dhp-mps/marihuana/index_e.html . Once you receive the forms please contact us here and we can walk you thru certain parts. We will then ask you to get all the personal and doctors information complete, get in touch with us here and we will arrange a meeting with you to discuss the setting up of a designated gardener for yourself.

We're Starting to see the Light at the End of our Tunnel.
It looks as if our October 31 ( yes, Halloween) may be our last daze in court, so lets cross our fingers. After way too many days, weeks and now months of court dates, lawyer meetings and suffering by our members, we think we have come to a decision with the Crown. We will update everyone as they happen.

We're NOT giving up.
Unfortunately we remain closed until a new space is confirmed. As many members already know, we tried to run the centre without a space. Well, that didn't work out as well as we where, optimistically, hoping. We are still actively looking for space, but with the lack of funds, we are finding this task a lot harder then we initially thought.
So please bear with use as we are still doing the best we can. We are still open to any ideas that ones may have. If you wish to share them please let us know at info@londoncompassionsociety.com

We're experiencing some delays
We’ve unfortunately run into another bump in our road back to servicing our members. Finding space, and the monies to secure a space, has become a lot harder then we were expecting. Along with this, locating reliable volunteers has also hindering our abilities to get back to where we were.
So with all of the above, with the deepest of remorse, we must delay our services until further notice.
We so deeply apologize to all for the inconvenience, pain and unpleasantness that this will bring.
Please continue to check here for all updates, and if anyone has any advice or ideas that they feel will help, please don’t hesitate to drop us a line.

We're Asking for Volunteers
The Society is in need of a few volunteers to handle an aria of duties. We recently lost one of our “key” volunteers and we need to fulfill this space so we can carry on with our goal of offering healthy alternatives to the synthetic poisons that some of our members are forced to use. We NEED your Support
Our lawyers have advised us to contact as many members as possible and ask for letters of support from them for the centre. We are asking our members to write letters to the court (or to Whom it may concern) and tell them how much you feel the centre is a necessary part of "your" community. How it's a vital part of your life and your freedom of living a quality life. How your doctor suggested, supports or acknowledges your use of Medical Marijuana. How M.M.A.R. (Medical Marijuana Access Regulations) are way too difficult to fulfill, way too timely to complete and that some Doctors are sacared to file out "thier"(Health Canada's) forms.
Basically we are asking you to be honest, firm and to tell them "your" side of "your" story. Most of all how the L.C.S. (London Compassion Society) helped you live a more promising life.
We will be also be contacting members by phone to pass along our need. We also ask if anyone who may have a doctor whom may be willing to write a letter of support, to please pass along our story.

We're doing our Best
Our sincere apologize to our faithful members. We fell upon a few more unfortunate circumstances, but seem to be back on track. We are still homeless, but this too is only for the time being, as we are looking at new spaces daily. As some of our seasoned members will understand, summer time are when supplies are at their lowest, but again we are doing our best to bring stock in. Please feel free to contact us here with any questions you may have.

We're Back

LONDON COMPASSION SOCIETY RAIDED MARCH 24 2007
Saturday, March 24, 2007 the London City Police raided our offices and confiscated all medicine and funds saved towards our legal defense fund. The founder and director were taken to jail and released 2 days later. Disclosure is set for 4/20 2007 at the London Court House.
4/20, 2007 at 9.00a we appear at the London Court House for disclosure and also would like our members to show their presence for this medicinal need. 4:20p we will meet again peacefully in Victoria Park.
LCS members please contact us by email with your names and numbers so we may provide you with updates.
We need all of you! We have had to close the offices of Wellness of Richmond and the LCS is looking for space to re-open. Any help you could provide...ideas, answers, space, time....please email us.
